Inspiring and supporting each other starts here.
The purpose of this page is to highlight and share valuable resources - books, quotes, podcasts, videos, and everything in between. I have included resources that other women in my circle have found helpful, some that are still on my list to check out, and some that have absolutely already had an impact on my life.
These lists will be updated as often as possible!
“These mountains you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb.”
— Najwa Zebian
Recommended Ted Talks
Boys are taught to be brave. Girls are taught to be perfect. Let’s change the way we think about raising women!
Find your voice! Sometimes it’s necessary to say the hard truths for the greater good.
Make the choice you want to make, and have the courage to stick to your decision! (Also if you haven’t watched her series “Workin’ Moms”, it’s amazing.)
Recommended Reading List:
Welcome Home: A Guide to Building a Home For Your Soul, by Najwa Zebian
I am currently reading this one, and it has already touched my soul! Najwa teaches us the idea of building a home within yourself, rather than placing your worth in other people or places. Her backstory of coming from Lebanon to Canada, never feeling that she belonged, developing resilience and a desire to help others feel like they belong within themselves, is truly touching.
Year of Yes, by Shonda Rhimes
I’m currently reading this one too, and it is GOOD! You’ve probably heard Shonda’s name and watched her popular shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, but did you know her backstory? This is her memoir; the story of how she learned to say yes and explore the world, make moves, and embrace her true self.
Untamed, by Glennon Doyle
It comes highly recommended! I have heard so much about it and I love listening to Glennon. She teaches us to embrace who we are, take up the space we deserve, and be unapologetically authentic.
You Are a Badass at Making Money, by Jen Sincero
This book was an important part of the process I went through to change my mindset surrounding money. It’s easy to read and digest, and helped me break out of some of my beliefs that I didn’t even realize were limiting at the time.
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, by Elizabeth Gilbert
As a writer, this book was highly valuable in learning about and accepting my creative process. But, I would recommend it for those who aren’t writers, too. The book talks about finding your creative voice, but also owning your process and your voice in general. There are many quotes in there that I found inspirational.
Tiny, Beautiful Things, by Cheryl Strayed
I read this book a long time ago, and parts of it still stay with me. It’s a collection of little stories and questions, with advice that is sometimes heartbreakingly beautiful, because although painful, it’s what the reader needed to hear. There were a few questions and answers in there that I felt spoke directly to me in different situations, and they reminded me that in the end, we are all human beings who want to be loved.
Everything is Figureoutable, by Marie Forleo
This book was recommended to me by several people and is next on my list! Marie talks about using the idea that “everything is figureoutable” to handle criticism, bounce back faster, go after your goals, and overcome obstacles. That seems like a great mentality to have, and I’m looking forward to diving in.
